Local voice tools for Mac
Dropelz Local AI Studio, developed by DLAIS, includes local tools for English speech and dictation. Use Kokoro to turn text into speech and Whisper to turn spoken English into text. Both are included free, with their models downloaded separately.

Start with speech or dictation
Download the app from the Mac App Store and choose the voice tool that matches your task. Kokoro 82M provides English text-to-speech; Whisper base.en provides English dictation. Review the model information and hardware checks before installing either model.
For speech, begin with a short paragraph. Listen to the result and adjust punctuation or sentence length if the phrasing needs work. This can help when reviewing how a draft sounds aloud.
For dictation, try a short passage first and check the resulting text. Review names, numbers and punctuation before using it. A brief test gives you a useful starting point for your own voice and recording conditions.
What the Pro voice preview adds
Pro includes the Audio8 TTS 0.6B voice cloning preview, with reusable voice profiles. Use your own voice or a voice whose speaker has given permission.

Keep hardware and privacy in view
The app requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. An 8 GB Mac is a starting point for everyday speech and dictation, but individual models may need more memory or a newer macOS version. Follow the model’s own guidance.
Downloaded voice models run on your Mac. Local generations are not sent to DLAIS, and you can manage saved voice profiles and uninstall models in the app. Internet access is needed to download the models. Read the Privacy Policy.
Questions before you start
Can I use speech and dictation offline?
Yes. Local speech and dictation can work offline once their models are downloaded. App Store purchases and downloads require an internet connection.
Is voice cloning included free?
No. The Audio8 voice cloning preview requires Pro. Kokoro English speech and Whisper English dictation are included free.
