Local AI chat for Mac
Dropelz Local AI Studio, developed by DLAIS, brings local AI chat to an Apple silicon Mac. Ask questions, develop an idea or work on a draft using a model that runs on your computer. The free app includes unlimited conversations with Qwen3 1.7B.
Dropelz Local AI Studio · Apple silicon · macOS 15 or later
Start with one useful task
Download the app from the Mac App Store, then check the model information before installing Qwen3 1.7B. Models download separately from the app, and the model card explains storage needs, licensing and hardware guidance.
Begin with a focused request. For example: “Help me outline a short guide to organising a home workspace. Use five sections and plain English.” Add relevant context, specify the format you want and ask a follow-up question when the answer needs refinement.
Treat the response as a starting point. Review facts, wording and any suggested steps before using the result.
What Free and Pro include
Free includes Qwen3 1.7B, built-in Support AI, model management and hardware checks. Pro adds other chat models, including Qwen3 variants, Granite 3.3 2B, SmolLM3 3B and Phi-4 Mini 3.8B. It also includes PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint exports.
Monthly and lifetime Pro unlock the same current features. Regional prices appear in the app. Local inference has no per-token DLAIS fees. Compare Free and Pro.
Choose a model that fits your Mac
You need Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later. An 8 GB Mac is a starting point for small chat models; larger models need more available memory. Check each model’s guidance before downloading.
Downloaded models run locally, and local chats and prompts are not sent to DLAIS. Optional Brave web search requires Pro and your own API key; enabled search sends queries to Brave. Read the Privacy Policy.
Questions before you start
Can I chat offline?
Local chat can work offline after the model is downloaded. Downloads, purchases and optional online services need internet access.
Can I store models on an external drive?
Yes. Model files can live on your Mac or a connected external drive. Check available space before installation.
